Don’t be shy; I know you’ve got a verse for every wound you carry on the inside,

The ones that have yet to heal, so you hide them between the white lies and a crooked smile.

It’s a force of habit to say you’re alright.

I mean really, I’m fine.

No… really… I’m fine.

But that rage,

Oh, that rage be like a whiplash,

Whip crash on 10th and Piedmont Ave.

It’s no coincidence the license plate said devilish—

Red hot Corvette going way over the speed limit.

True story, I’ve lived it.

Mind on autopilot,

On the train ride from Indian Creek to East Point, all I see is screen scrolling.

The sky could’ve fallen, and they’d still be stuck on this illusion—

This meta matrix steady marginalizing the matriarchs of our tribes, so we set out on quests,

Capture colonizers by their necks

Till they bleed red, white, and blue.

Could give two f***s about your German descent,

You SS

With a concentration in racist rhetoric.

You can miss me with that… BS.

Could’ve gotten my degree in STEM,

Come to find out some of “the greats” were really white suprems—

A reminder that no amount of southern hospitality can conceal the stench of poverty on Pryor, Cleveland Ave, Columbia, Glenwood.

Far too gone to know the difference between here and the hereafter.

They dancing with the devil, got blood on their soles,

Seeking God and somewhere to call home.

No amount of suffering will last, because at the break of dawn,

We could all be gone.
